017-The Way Back

“There Are No Wrong Turns—Only Unexpected Paths”~Mark Nepo

I stepped away from writing. Not by choice of course, but because Life sometimes has grander intentions and larger meaning. I am happy to say that I’ve been back and putting words on the page again with at least some regularity, with the completion of the first draft manuscript for novel number two closing in. From an author's perspective, I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you.

From both of these standpoints, the path has had twists and turns, but it feels good. Really good even. Including the times when it feels like the hero has reached that pivotal moment where a perilous end seems apparent. Yet there’s a sense of normality settling in, a feeling of the work being put in equaling its reward. Like most journeys, the stakes and rewards seem to only grow along the trail.

That’s really it—all I have, friends. No pictures, no solid six-hundred to a thousand words, but I’ve been wanting to get this one out.

Here’s the takeaway—

When you’ve stepped away and feel a bit lost in what you’re doing and unsure which direction to send the main character…trust your direction. Trust it’s the right decision. Take that step. Put that word on the page. And whatever plot twist or turn you find you created, own it and love the ever-living hell out of it.
